Editorial Policy — How We Research
How FitnTip researches and writes.
FitnTip is written by a research writer, not a medical professional. Our job is to summarise what authoritative sources say — accurately, with links you can check.
Source hierarchy
We prefer, in this order:
- Guidance from WHO, CDC, NIH, FDA, and similar public health bodies
- Systematic reviews and meta-analyses on PubMed
- Peer-reviewed studies in reputable journals
- Position statements from recognised bodies (e.g. Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, American Heart Association).
We do not rely on social media posts, forums, or other blogs as evidence.
Claim rules
Every important health claim gets an inline link to its specific source page or study — not a generic ‘Sources: WHO, CDC, FDA, NIH’ badge. If we quote a guideline that gives a range or a condition, we quote it exactly and link it. If evidence is mixed, preliminary, or limited to animals / small studies, we say so. If a claim cannot be sourced to a primary authority, we delete it or soften it. We do not give personal dosage, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations.
Language rules
Avoid: cure, guaranteed, proven to cure, expert, doctor-recommended (unless a named body actually recommends it), ‘we have seen in practice.’
Use: ‘According to [source]…’, ‘Guidelines state…’, ‘Evidence suggests…’, ‘Research is limited / mixed.’
Review and updates
Each article shows Published date and Last reviewed date. We re-check articles when major guidance changes or when a reader reports an error. Corrections are noted with a date and what changed.
Sponsorships and affiliates
We do not let sponsors change conclusions. If an article contains an affiliate link or sponsored mention, it will be disclosed at the top of that article. If there is no disclosure, there is no commercial relationship for that recommendation.
What we do not publish
- Articles that pretend a writer is a doctor, pharmacist, dietitian, or trainer
- Content that promises a health outcome
- Copy from other sites — we summarise with citation.
Feedback
Readers can report an error, a broken link, or outdated guidance via Contact. We will verify against the primary source and correct it.
